Final Moments

They say that when you die, your life flashes before your eyes. That's how Dri Po knew that the cold press of steel settling into the nape of her neck was the end. Gil Se La Po Ma teaching her piano, tiny fingers trying to match her mother seemingly impossible reach. Falling asleep in the arms of Mi Kai after pulling an all nighter to get her final paper done. The dull tone of a heart no longer beating on the operating table before her. Her first taste of Rainbow and the stinging pain of knuckles on ribs. Letters, tears, hatred and blood all flicking through her mind, overlaying the queasy feeling of her stomach sinking in regret of trust.

Seeing her life so quick, it was a shit show. Choices and reasons both bad, molding her into the monster she had become. A murderer.

“You're a good woman, Dri and don't you dare forget it.”

Warmth flooded through her, the memory of a small shared smile flicking through all the hell and darkness of the past few years, her heart swelling just a tiny bit at the sight of his face.

“Oh.”

At least she died smiling.
